Lamb-demonium

It's been a little crazy -- 24 lambs from 7 ewes.

Samantha had twin ewes -- one black, the other dark brown piebald.
Then came an Alpine buckling -- Scooter. Big fella. Anyone need a herd sire?
Then there were more lambs:
Tuula had quads, Blaakie had quads, Lexie had triplets and Goldie had QUINTUPLETS. I haven't had time to take pictures of them all yet.

We have proven ewes as well as lambs for sale. The list is in the works and should be up this weekend.

Baby goats & more lambs

Tuesday morning brought baby goats. Both does. Both for sale immediately as bottle babies. The dam is Lamancha, the sire Alpine. These does will be awesome milkers. Or great pets -- they are so cute!
Tuesday afternoon brought Finn triplets from Harlequin Impi. Three ewe lambs.

Harlequin Pippi lambed last night. Conveniently at 9 p.m. First there was one.

Beautiful ewe lamb.
Then she stood up.
Then there were three more! Two rams and a ewe.

Lamb Watch

Whilst waiting for Pippi to lamb, I'm trying to clear my 'to-do' list. Or at least reduce its great length. First up, the merino pink-y, purple-y hat
The cat decides to impede progress. Then takes over.
Next project - laundry. We all know what it looks like and how much fun it is. Not.

Lambing has begun

The count so far: 8 ram lambs, 1 ewe lamb. White, black and BROWN! Our first brown lamb, Theodore is living in the house -- much to the annoyance of our cats.

It was a whopping 27 degrees the morning of his birth. Hypothermia nearly did the little fellow in. I gave him a warm water bath and popped him in a laundry basket with a heating pad. By the end of the day he was ready for the playpen.

I'm getting faster! I hand sheared Frosty, the big ram in an hour. 7 pounds of fleece - after skirting!

Fleeces are ready

It's glorious outside. The sheep, though, they're miserable. Out came the shears. The first batch of fleeces are ready and can be found at HarlequinFarm.etsy.com
I expect to shear the rest in the next week.
Lambs will arrive in 6 weeks!

Fidget and Peyton are here! Fidget is a brown Alpine, Peyton is a black Lamancha. They've settled in well and we're expecting kids in May.

My camera is having issues so I lost the better pictures I took. I'll try again but in the meantime - here are the new girls.

Mighty cold out there

It was a bit nippy for chores this morning --15 degrees with 50 mph winds! Talk about an Arctic blast! I know it's cold when the ponies are staying in the shed.

Last year gave us white lambs, black lambs, a phaeo ewe lamb and a piebald phaeo ewe lamb. Lots of twins, two sets of quads. Breeding groups are all set. We should have lambs in May. I'm hoping for more phaeos and more piebalds. I fantasize about brown lambs .... Time will tell.

Fleece (white only this spring) and lamb reservations are available. No charge, just send me your contact info and what you're looking for. I'll also be shearing in the fall and will have colors as well as white available.
